Save Your Pets

Cricket did not even have a month when it was found grelottante and famished in a gutter. Torn off with her so young mother, she would not have survived without the attentive care of the team of the refuge. A few months old it is today a small bitch always of good mood and overflowing of affection. Too much fragile to be proposed with the adoption, the team decided to keep it with the refuge.

The origins of the requests for fastening to the list are in exits majority of the pressure of the consumers who, by playing their part of actor in the process of consumption, direct the laboratories towards ethical practices in adequacy with their, and our, convictions. Of course, of many firms falling under these practices contact us to make validate and recognize their respectful step of alive, in particular of the animals. If you also, you wish to be certified and take thus a length in advance… contact us.

To answer the criteria of certification
To be able to be certified Label One Voice, all the products of a range (cosmetics, feedingstuffs, etc) must answer the criteria defined by One Voice: no test on animals neither for the product formulation, nor for the ingredients which compose it. Each ingredient entering the manufacture of a product must justify nonrecourse to the animal experimentation and an audit process, verifiable constantly, must be installation. This procedure and the various elements composing the file of certification are audited by an independent organism (see opposite). The procedure of certification is renewed every three years.

In France, there exist several ways of driving out. Without nothing justifying it, those which are supposed “to manage” the wildlife of our country can choose among a panel of processes of settings in scene for their slaughters. The objective is clearly that this activity remains ludic, whatever the tastes of each one…

Authorized modes of hunting
The French law authorizes “hunting with shooting with firearms or the arc, the hunt or hunting, hunting for the flight with raptors and the traditional huntings authorized with traditional machines. ” (Source: ONCFS) Some only drive out or groups some, and helped or not of dogs and pipe cleaners. Among these various modes of hunting, one can recall that the hunt, considered as extremely cruel, was prohibited in England. Hunting for the arc as for it, was officially authorized only in 1995, in spite of the opposition of the defenders of the animals.

Hunting in question
There exist three types of hunt or hunting. In the 3 cases, it implies the use of dogs drawn up especially and specialists in the driven out species. It is them which capture, even devour the animal, in general after having exhausted it. The hunting of large animals is practised with horse and relates to the stag, the roe-deer, wild boar or the fox. The small game hunting is done with foot and relates to hare or rabbit. Lastly, hunting under ground consists in “unearthing” the badger, the fox or the coypu. The dogs drive back the animal at the bottom of its burrow and the hunters dig for tearing off some using a metal grip. Following these huntings the setting with death takes place. Not less cruel, it can be done by a knife, a scraping-knife of hunting, a weapon fire or even a spear! And one often reports the case of renardeaux, completed with blows of heel… The stress and the suffering related to this type of hunting, since the continuation until exhaustion and the setting with death, are inadmissible. Imagine the panic of the vixen wanting to protect its small, the attacked badger and follow-up by dogs until the bottom of its burrow!

Sponsorship

With the programme of sponsorship of One Voice, you can choose to help us to offer to the animals bear and chimpanzee which we released from the yoke of human new life, under conditions in conformity with their needs. You can also choose to help us to preserve the wild life of the sanctuary of Hampapak to Borneo, by sponsoring its orangs-outans free. You can also decide to come to assistance of the dogs given up of Darjeeling, by sponsoring Dolly or Cricket.
To become godfather

To help us to offer to the boarders our refuges - bear, chimpanzees or dogs - the care which they need, or to help us to protect the sanctuary from the wild life of Hampapak, we propose various formulas to you. You can thus choose a sponsorship corresponding to 3 months, 6 months or 1 year, unless you did not prefer a monthly direct gift (by direct debit).

While becoming godfather, you will receive a photograph of your protected, as well as news of him.

In India, the rage kills each year of the thousands of people. To fight against the epidemic, the wandering dogs are victims of a systematic eradication to strychnin. In Darjeeling, One Voice convinced the authorities to choose a non-violent way while launching a vast campaign of vaccination and sterilization. It built a vast refuge dispensary there.

Practical which does not have any more a raison d'être
According to Greenpeace, tourism whaler pays more than 10 billion dollars to Iceland each year; that is to say more than will be able to never bring back hunting. If the latter formerly benefitted the car industries (grease) and food, with perfumery (amber) and the mode (bone), the die seems today to have lost of its success. Meat stocks run out with difficulty, in particular thanks to a significant change of mentalities. One Voice thus protests against this practice which does not have any raison detre.
With its label, One Voice obtained an additional tool in its fight against the animal experimentation and for the development of the substitute methods.

The list of the marks labellized by One Voice, associated at their firms or by category of products, is updating regularly.

Taking again the criteria defined at the time of the installation of international standard HSC (Human Cosmetics Standard) by the “European Coalition for the end of the animal experimentation”, whose association is the French representative, the label One Voice widens its field of application to products other than the cosmetics. After the entry of feedingstuffs within the framework of certifications, the maintenance products, the articles of paper mill, painting, or of the food products could also profit soon from the label One Voice.

Certifying a complete range of products not tested on animals, the label One Voice is recognized today like one of most demanding, guaranteeing the absence of animal experimentation as well in its formulation, as in its composition. It is at the end of a procedure, sometimes long, aiming at controlling the traceability of the entirety of the ingredients composing a product which an independent organism delivers certification. No gift or adhesion is required by One Voice for obtaining the label. Only the expenses of audit are the responsibility of the applicant, as it is the case in the majority of the procedures of certification.

In front of the pressure of increasingly concerned consumers of “ethical” purchases, and in spite of the level of excellence requested on the matter from the candidates with certification, the list of the labeled products One Voice does not cease accomodating new marks and opening with new ranges products.

Results not validated by the international scientific community
From the creation of this program, Japan forever published the results of its research. Within sight of the weakness of its arguments, those are not validated by the international scientific community. Per hour when not invasive techniques known as make it possible to carry out a great number of tests by only blood sample, it is difficult to defend this thesis. Indeed, a simple biopsy allows several analyses of which that of the 'DNA. It makes it possible to answer many questions about the food, the genetics of the populations and the reproduction, without condemning the animal. An obvious paradox for a country with the avant-garde of new technologies.

Nonguilty whales…
Japan puts the importance also ahead to control the number of whales in order to preserve fish stocks in the ocean. This argument is quite as unfounded because the majority of the driven out whales are with pennon (mysticètes) and thus nourish only microscopic animals like the krill. Surpêche and pollution remain the only explanations to the reduction in the fish populations…

Thousands of victims
In the name of science, more than 2.000 whales are killed each year. Out of 1987 to 2005,6 800 whales of Minke (Balaenoptera bonaerensis) were killed under this pretext and were marketed. The common rorquals (Balaenoptera physalus), boréals (Balaenoptera borealis) also are driven out per hundreds every year according to quotas fixed by the countries hunters, without dialogue with the scientific institutions. The humpback whale (Megaptera novaeanglia) benefits since 2007 from a respite, Japan having voted a prohibition of hunting for this species.

A denounced cruelty
Thanks to the work of associations like Greenpeace, of the images of hunting for the whale could make the round the world tour to denounce the cruelty of the act. Vidéos turned during these programs show that more than 80% of the whales are not killed instantaneously after being harpooned. Still alive during winching on the ships, they endure abominable sufferings which, once on board, can be still prolonged during more than one half an hour.

Pet Retreat

To be heard, One Voice started a large campaign of information and mobilization of the public.

One Voice denounces the hunting of the whales. The cruelty of this practice has equal only its absence of real scientific interest. It puts in danger the fragile ecological balance of the oceans by causing the disappearance of an important link of the trophic network, with the only name of the economic profit in the short run…

Non-observance of the moratorium of 1986
The Commission international whale-boat (CBI) was created in 1946 in order to manage the development of the industrial hunting of whales. It emitted in 1986 a moratorium aiming to prohibit it because of the imminent risk of disappearance of these animals, largest of planet. At the time, three countries were opposed to this text - Russia, Norway and Iceland. But Japan immediately exploited a fault as a practitioner of it only authorized hunting: that with scientific goal. Today, Norway and Iceland also use this pretext.

Drive out scientific discussed
Each year, Japan thus authorizes its fleet of whalers to track these large Cetacea in the Antarctic and in the Northern Pacific under cover of a scientific program named JARPA then JARPA II initially. Irony of fate, the purpose of these programs are to undertake research on the ecological role of the whales in their ecosystem, their dietary habits and their reproductive manners… as many reasons to kill several thousands of whales which “will be treated” on board factory ships and will supply out of meat the rays of the supermarkets and the restaurants.

Driven out with the net
Organized during the rain season, the capture of the monkeys is done in the flooded forest. Installed on board a canoe, the hunters locate a group of individuals in a tree and place a net, under water, with the foot of this last. After having cut branches so that the monkeys do not have an other exit, they strike the tree trunk to frighten them. The thrown into a panic primates jump or fall then into water and find themselves wedged in the net… Some die even drowned. Handled brutally, they are placed in bags in mesh tight and stored at the bottom of the boat in the darkness and without any freedom of movement. They remain several days there, without water nor food, until the end of hunting and the return to the village…

Visit of a breeding
The breeding visited by the investigators of One Voice revealed very difficult living conditions for the animals. Locked up with several in large cages, the monkeys do not profit from any enrichment. Hardly some platforms and a swing come to enrich these enclosures, whose ground is out of naked concrete and does not allow them to hide… And of course, no water point, whereas this species of macaque appreciates the proximity of it. In other buildings of the same breeding, individuals are locked up in tiny batteries of cages at the latticed bottom. Some of enter they, our investigators observed females nursing their small, in others, very young individuals alone or by two, possibly with a cuddly toy to reassure them… Such living conditions guarantee many traumatisms for these intelligent and social animals. These young people will not be able to develop a normal behavior, if however they survive…

To put a term at this situation!
One Voice claims the prohibition of the experimentation on the primates within the framework of the revision of European directive 86. She asks so that is followed the Declaration (0040/2007) of the European Parliament on the adopted use of primates in the scientific experiments, in 2007. It is in particular written there:

“The declaration urgently invites the Commission, the Council of Ministers and the European Parliament to benefit from the process of revision of the directive 86/609/CEE to put an end, in priority and urgently, with the use of the large monkeys and other monkeys captured in a wild state at experimental ends, like establishing, within the framework of the total revision of the aforesaid the directive, a calendar in order to replace the use of all the primates by other solutions in the scientific experiments”

Under Sneenz

“Even the chimpanzees, genetically very close to human and dividing with the man 98,7% to his genetic material are poor models for the study of the AIDS and other human diseases because of their natural immunity to the HIV and an immune system of a specificity different from ours. ”
(cf J.G. Hacia - TRENDS IN GENETICS, flight 17, N° 11, pages 637-645)

Mauritius, the hell of the primates
Mauritius is a reference as regards “scientific” breeding of monkeys. The country remains a large exporter of primates intended for the biomedical experiments. The captures and the export of macaques represent a lucrative trade for all the chain links of this legalized traffic. Each year, the Park National would obtain more than 300.000 euros thanks to the export of primates. More than 14.000 monkeys would be prisoners of the centers of transit on the whole of the island. 7.000 of them are exported each year. Several thousands of poachers would work already in all illegality as far as Africa and in Madagascar to provide the cattle-breeding farms. The natural population of macaques of Mauritius comprises approximately 60.000 individuals: in the long run, that will it be so of other centers of breedings are established to satisfy the request compulsive eater of the Occident?

The investigators of One Voice, with the risk of their life, infiltrated a breeding of primates in Kampuchea. Intended for research laboratories and even for a great center of French primatology, these monkeys survive under unacceptable conditions… And to face the request, the wild captures of individuals multiply. One Voice mobilizes and organizes a great demonstration on April 25. Together we can put a term at these sufferings!

A profitable activity
Under the impulse of Chinese investors, the breedings of macaques with long tail or macaque crabier (Macaca fascicularis), multiply in Kampuchea. With for main targets the US markets, Chinese and soon French, this trade, already very little regulated, almost does not respect the existing directives… In 2006, according to QUOTE, more than 6000 monkeys were exported towards China, and 2500 towards the United States. In 2007, according to an official source, they would have been 9500 to be exported of Kampuchea… And this figure is only one beginning, being given the number of new breedings in construction!

Captured in nature
A statement of principle of WHO and Group for the conservation of ecosystem (ECG) recommend that “the use of the threatened, vulnerable and rare species in the biomedical research projects is considered only when the animals come from autoalimentés breedings. ” All the animals which are captive there must thus belong at least to the F2 generation. However it is far from being the case! The breeding that our investigators visited provides indeed largely in nature, although the species is classified as quasi-threatened by the UICN. It is besides as well as the many existing breedings operate to create and renew their stock… The research laboratories for which these animals are intended have need for individuals presenting a great genetic diversity and of big number. However the time necessary with the reproduction and the breeding of the young people is too long. It is thus necessary unceasingly to capture new individuals, females already sexually mature mainly, to ensure rates… An investigation carried out by the BUAV in the same breeding revealed the conditions of the abduction of the animals in Nature.
